Acoma’s ethically-conscious owners converted this beautiful old building into a hotel in 2004, and equipped it with a fully organic restaurant, a fair-trade craft shop and a ceramics studio where visitors can watch the local craftsmen and women create individually designed artworks.
The hotel’s striking façade of gleaming white walls and dark wooden balconies is replicated inside, along with colorful murals representing Kichwa characters, chunky wooden beams and huge fireplaces.
Acoma caters to all budgets: Self-catering suites are suitable for families or those wishing to stay for longer duration, while the rooms with shared bathrooms are a great choice for students. Discounts can be arranged for research groups and volunteers.
Just two blocks from the famous market in Plaza de los Ponchos, guests can take a trip up to the fifth floor for spectacular views across the city and of the surrounding mountains.
Available from the cafe and restaurant.
