When we built Hotel Ali Shungu we imagined a small Inn with all of the elegance, comforts and privacy of a Hacienda just a few blocks from the world famous handicraft market.

These spacious rooms, with local folk art decor, all have heating, comfortable mattresses and balconies overlooking our organic garden, home to many native birds. There are also two large family suites/apartments, sleeping up to six people, with kitchenettes and views of Imbabura Volcano.

There is free wifi access and a computer for guests in the reception area.

Ali Shungu's Gourmet Restaurant has an extensive selection of International and Ecuadorian dishes.

Either vehicle is comfortable, with large windows and plenty of room. Don Bayardo will bring your family or group out to Otavalo in his Toyota van. Don Omar speaks English and drives a new Ford Explorer. Write for prices.

TOURING THE AREA
Taxi Tours to the lakes and villages cost $12.00-$15.00 for 2 or 3 people.

The ladies of Yambiro have formed a Cooperative of Embroiderers. They will offer their works not only to travelers, but also directly to buyers in the US. They will earn many times more than what they could earn subcontracting and, very soon, you will have the opportunity to support them directly.

The community of Larcacunga is seeking financing for more pools for the cultivation of trout. The trout will provide a cash crop, will improve the diet of the locals and it will be an attraction for tourists. $150.00 will finance a trout pool, including the feed. The community members provide the labor.
