Day 1: Bola de Oro rainforest
In the morning, we will travel to the community of Río Blanco to begin our route along the Bola de Oro trail, which we can complete on foot or on horseback. Here we will see black howler monkeys and capuchin monkeys in the virgin coastal rainforest, as well as many native species of orchid. After lunch in the community, we will return to Puerto López.
This tour can be completed in two days, staying in the cabin in Río Blanco, or camping in the forest, and continuing the trail to the nearby community of Agua Blanca.
Day 2 or 3: Isla de Salango trekking and snorkelling
Traveling south along the rocky coastline from Puerto López, we will take a boat to the nearby Isla de Salango. Here you will observe many Blue-footed Boobies, Frigatebirds and pelicans.
Following a trek across the island, you can cool of while snorkelling in the clear waters of the coral reef, home to many brightly-colored fish, urchins and sea stars.
Day 3 or 4: Agua Blanca
Today we will visit the community of Agua Blanca, with a rich cultural history and archaeological remains of some of South America´s most ancient civilizations. We will take a guided tour around the village and archaeological museum, followed by a dip in the natural volcanic srpings, rich in sulphur which leaves you with smooth skin.
