A visit to Cotopaxi National Park with Tierra del Volcán involves much more than the standard visit. The visit will include a hike to the Refuge at 4,800 m (14,760 ft) and to the glacier, a visit to Limpiopungo lake and a short hike to admire the Andean birds that nest in the swamps that surround the lake; a visit to Pucará del Salitre, an strategic location were the Incas had a military fortress; the volcanic avenue, were we can see the magnitude of Cotopaxi’s past eruptions; the less known, but beautiful “Ojo de Agua” or water spring, a beautiful spot for relaxing and meditating.
We can provide day tours to the park, departing and arriving from Quito, but we strongly recommend spending at least one night in the area to make the most out of your visit.
