The Pro-Forest Foundation is an Ecuadorian non profit conservation organization
whose mission is the protection and restoration of the native forests of Ecuador, focusing on the critically endangered coastal dry tropical forests, through programs of control, forest restoration, environmental education and interpretation, sustainable community development, and investigation.
The main focus of the work of the Pro-Forest Foundation, is the administration and management of the Cerro Blanco Protected Forest, a 18,000 acre reserve on the outskirts of the city of Guayaquil, which supports significant biodiversity, including more than 500 vascular plant species, of which approximately 20% some endemics to the Tumbesian Bioregion of Southwest Ecuador to Northwest Peru, 54 mammal species, including mantled howler monkey, collared peccary, crab-eating raccoon and even jaguar. Cerro Blanco also protects 219 bird species, eight of which are globally endangered, including the Great Green Macaw, the symbol of the Cerro Blanco Protected
Forest and critically endangered in Ecuador.
