La Choza de Don Wilson is a family-run guesthouse with hot springs, a steam room and an excellent restaurant. The affordable rooms have glorious views across the valley and of the surrounding mountains of the Cayambe Coca Ecological Reserve, with its gushing waterfalls, lush green vegetation and astonishing number of bird species.
Rooms are simple, with private bathrooms, and some have fireplaces. Use of the indoor thermal pool is include in the price, and guests can opt for therapies such as massages and reflexology at around $25 per hour for a truly relaxing experience. La Choza has an upstairs sitting/reading area, and plenty of space to sit and admire the view. The popular restaurant is famed for its excellent local trout, as well as other typical Ecuadorian dishes at $3 - $4.50 for a set meal.
The friendly couple who run the guesthouse are in their eighties, and testify to the healing properties of Papallacta’s thermal waters!
