Day 1: Flight from Quito to Manta or Portoviejo. Arrival and immediate departure by bus to Machalilla National Park, visiting on the way Montecristi village, where the famous Panama Hats are made. Accommodation at Mantaraya Lodge. After luch, there is a visit to the Salango Museum. Back to the hotel, briefing and dinner.
Day 2: Today we will visit Isla de la Plata, an island 25km from the coast which is home to blue-footed boobies and albatross. From June-Septermber, is is possible to see humpback whales on the boat ride to the island. We will hike for 3 hours around the island, to see the many birds that live there. After a packed lunch, we can cool of in the sea by swimming and snorkeling in the islands coral reefs. The warm, clear water is an excellent opportunity to see brightly coloured fish, starfish and urchins. Sailing back to Puerto López to Mantaraya Lodge, briefing and dinner.
Day 3: Visit to Los Frailes beach, a beautifully preserved beach with white sands within the National Park. We provide equipment for those who wish to snorkel. Lunch and early departure by bus to Portoviejo or Manta to take the return flight to Quito.
