PapaGayo is located in the Interandino Valley, at the western highlands, 45 minutes from Quito, on the Pan Americana Highway.
In 1933, Don. Miguel Angel Benalcazar, great-grandson of "the Liberator" Simon Bolivar, bought parts of these lands and named them "Hacienda Bolivia". The famous battles that led to the beginning of the liberation took place in these shepherds’ fields where Hosteria PapaGayo stands today.
In 2001, Eran Hayoun came to Ecuador from Israel with his dream to establish a farm in the western highlands. After searching for six months for a farm he found Hacienda Bolivia and started working to establish a Hosteria. On March 27, 2002, Eran opened Hosteria PapaGayo for those who want to enjoy the nature and the charm of this land.
Today, Hosteria Papagayo (Hacienda Bolivia) offers beautiful views of the nearby volcanoes and organizes single day and several day excursions for hiking, climbing, riding and many more activities
