Tourist Recommended Protected Area

Sunrise over the Laguna Grande

Giant anacondas, over nine metres long, live in the Laguna Grande, and sunbathe oi the trees.

The brave can fish for piranhas in the Laguna.

Cuyabeno Reserve

Cuyabeno is a flooded rainforest, giving it a vast diversity of fauna and flora.

Evening boat tours across the Laguna Grande allow visitors to watch the Amazon sunset and go hunting for caimans with flashlights as the night falls.

Squirrel Monkey

Many indigenous groups live in the Cuyabeno reserve along the Aguarico River, including SIonas, Secoyas and Cofanes. Visitors to the Siona community can participate in the preparation of traditional yuca, or cassava bread.

An incredible number of exotic fruits flourish in the Cuyabeno Reserve. Visitors can try new fruits every day, either cooked, raw or juiced.
